Iris 'King Salmon' - Pacific Coast Hybrid Iris

Description

An enchanting hybrid of our California Native Iris, 'King Salmon' has a unique salmon pink flower.  A golden yellow tint eminates from the center of the flower giving it a warm, glowing effect, and is accented by dramatic deep purple nectar guides.  Foliage is a vibrant deep green which will spread through rhizomes to form an attractive little 3' clump.  This plant can handle full sun by the coast, but would like a bit of dappled shade inland.  Pacific Coast hybrid Iris are a great option for planting under oaks, and are visited by both bees and hummingbirds.  Not sure yet if this cultivar is an early or late season bloomer.
