Description
A beautiful low-growing form of the California aster from the North Coast. This evergreen perennial is like a carpet of deep green, growing to about six inches high and spreading. A proliferation of little lilac disk-ray flowers (hallmark of an aster) appear late August and stay all through the fall. This makes it a really great food source for pollinators, as not much else is blooming at that time of year. Did I mention it spreads? The more it is pampered i.e. great drainage and abundant water, the more vigorously it will spread. This makes it perfect for certain applications, like on a large swath of tough terrain or covering a slope. Suitable for growing in a container. I wouldn't plan to work this into a confined space where irrigation is present- you might end up with too much of a good thing!
