Calamagrostis foliosa x nutkaensis 'Little Nootka' - Hybrid Reed Grass

This stunning grass is a naturally occuring hybrid between C. foliosa and C. nutkaensis introduced by California Flora Nursery.  We love it because it's a bit larger than the Mendocino Reed Grass, yet retains that visual interest vis-a-vis a tableau of cream colored flowers which radiate from the center mass of vibrant green foliage in a firework-esque display.  This grass is ideal for full sun in coastal areas (just like its parents), but probably would need a milder spot in dappled or indirect sunlight over the hill.  Likewise, it will need a bit of summer water in hotter locations, whereas on the coast it may need no supplemental water after it is established.  A fairly new introduction, we are interested to see how it grows and will be back with any further elucidations.
