Iris 'Canyon Sunshine' - Pacific Coast Hybrid Iris

Description

A Pacific Coast Hybrid Iris with big, beautiful, butter-yellow flowers.  Created by Dara Emery of the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden in the 90's, this is a cross between Iris douglasiana 'Canyon Snow' and Iris 'Canyon Gold' (an innominata hybrid).  Flowers appear in spring and vanish in a month or two- brief but worth the wait.  Left behind is the evergeen foliage which adds texture and structure in the landscape.  Plant in full sun by the coast, and part shade everywhere else.  As in general iris culture, clean the area around plants of debris and trim dead and spent leaves at least once a year, in late fall.
