Oenothera elata hirsutissima ssp. - Hairy Evening Primrose

Description

This is a very showy perennial with large bright yellow flowers that open late afternoon to sunrise. The flowering stalks can reach up to 6' high. Ideal for the back of a mixed border. Can take full sun and dry conditions but thrives with summer water. Adaptable to virtually every soil condition and is both a fast grower and vigorous spreader. Prune hard in the winter to encourage healthy spring growth. Deer tolerance is inconclusive.
