Grindelia stricta - Gum Plant

Description

This perennial makes a tough, quick-spreading grouncover for a coastal situation. In nature it is found on wind-swept bluffs and sand dunes. Bright yellow flowers on 1 foot stalks carpet the green foliage in spring. Sticky buds which give this plant its common name blossom into bright yellow flowers which attract a wide variety of beneficial insects. Will bloom April-July in a dry spot; a little water should extend the bloom into early fall.
