Erysimum insulare suffrutescens var. - Dune Wallflower

Description

Native to the central and southern California coast, this small perennial has fine gray foliage and bright yellow flowers in spring and summer. Native to sandy soil, it appreciates good drainage. It will thrive on the immediate coast or inland. A little water in warm areas will extend the bloom, as will pruning spent flowers occasionally. The plant will stay around a foot on the coast, and reach perhaps twice that in inland areas. A showy plant with attractive foliage that combines well with small bunchgrasses and coastal perennials like Checkerbloom and Seaside Daisy.
