Description

The Canyon Gooseberry is found in shady spots in woods and chaparral along the Coast Ranges and into Oregon. A pretty, deciduous shrub to about 7 feet tall and 5 feet wide, small fuchsia like red and white flowers dangle from its arching branches in winter and spring. Hummingbirds love them. The flowers are followed in summer by dark purple friuts which attract a variety of birds. Quite drought tolerant, but will keep its leaves longer with additional water. Deer resistant.
