Brodiaea elegans - Elegant Brodiaea

Description

This lovely violet-flowered bulbs adorns sunny meadows around the Bay area and beyond from May-July. The flowering stalk rises to about a foot and is topped with a stunning cluster of tubular flowers. As with most native bulbs, this species prefers no water during warm weather, but will take heavy soil provided it is only given rainwater. Nice combined with the smaller native grasses, as well as the Blue Bedder Penstemon, whose color it matches almost perfectly. At least 3 large bulbs per pot, all several years old.
