Calochortus uniflorus - Large-Flowered Star Tulip

Love Calochortus? Water your garden in the summer? This is the species for you. Growing 9 inches tall, this species has beautiful satiny lavender-pink flowers in late spring. A local native, it can be seen, albeit rarely, around the Bay Area in moist low elevation meadows. While it appreciates a little summer moisture, it still wants at least okay drainage, and partial sun. Best appreciated in a mass, we have planted 5 bulbs per pot, all several years old.
