Many colors of our native poppy have been carefully bred, and this is just one of them. Although usually treated as an annual, plants will often live for a few years, becoming larger and showier with time. To us, one of the main joys of growing multiple colors of the state flower is that when they reseed, each seedling will be its own unique shade, somewhere between the two parents. Watching to see what color each one will come out as is a springtime ritual here at the nursery.
