Description

Chosen for its deep rose flowers, this selection of the Western Bleeding Heart will make a colorful addition to the shade garden. The delicate, light green foliage is a perfect foil for woodland ferns. Fall and winter dormant, it is best planted among foundation plants such as Rhododendrons, Huckleberries, or Azaleas, or among other perennials that persist year round. Given light shade to dense shade, and occasional to regular water, Bleeding Heart will quickly form a nice patch. Bleeding Heart is native to Redwood forests throughout the state.
