Apocynum cannabinum - Indian Hemp

Description

This wide ranging perennial is found in moist places (near streams, springs, irrigation ditches) at elevations below 500 ft. It was an important traditional source of fiber for the native peoples. A strong, durable, soft silky fiber of yellowish-brown color was produced from the stems. In your garden consider using it near a pond or water feature.Clusters of small white flowers appear from June to August.
