Description

This member of the mint family is common throughout high elevation wet meadows and stream sides, but some grow at lower elevations in the coast ranges. Horsemint spreads steadily by underground rootstock, but is not considered aggressive. Two to three foot stems with green aromatic leaves end in whorls of rose pink to purple flowers. These plants are winter dormant. Provide a lightly shaded but bright situation, with summer irrigation.
