Description

This form of the Western Red Cedar was developed by the Saratoga Horticultural Research Foundation. 'Emerald Cone' is a much smaller tree than the species, reaching only 25-40' tall. The smaller dimensions and conical shape of this cultivar make it a very useful and attractive tree for the landscape. Thuja plicata is native to the pacific northwest, and the fog belt of northern California. This tree would appreciate a somewhat shady situation and regular irrigation. If planted in a foggy location it could tolerate a more exposed situation.
