Asclepias eriocarpa - Kotolo

Description

This perennial Milkweed is found throughout California. Upright stalks sport pairs of fuzzy gray leaves topped with a large cluster of creamy white flowers in late spring. Thrives in hot, dry locations with poor soil. You'll often see it growing around the drip line of an oak. Like all Asclepias, it is the sole larval food source for monarch butterflies.  Goes fully dormant in Winter, so you may want to mark where it's planted if you need help remembering.
