Pinus coulteri - Coulter Pine

Description

The best specimens of this drought resistant, fast-growing tree are found in the mountains of Southern California. Coulter Pine closely resembles Ponderosa Pine in habit of growth and appearance of the needles. They are 6-12" long, bluish green and 3 to a bundle. Its heavily armed cones are larger and heaver than the cones of any other pine. It is hardy and useful for erosion control in difficult situations.
