Description

Western Blue Flag is native to meadows and streambeds throughout the west, including the Sierras and the Rocky Mountains. Grows 1-2 ft tall. Spring flowers are larger than most native iris - nearly 3 " wide, and range from pale blue to lavender or white, often veined bluish purple, white, or yellow. Requires regular water and full sun to light shade. Far from the easiest iris to grow, but worth the challenge for a native iris aficionado. For those interested in an easier, faster growing iris, the Douglas Iris or one of the Pacific Coast Hybrids are recommended.
