Oryzopsis hymenoides - Indian rice grass

Description

Native Americans ground the seed of this bunchgrass into an edible mush. Native to dry, well drained and often sandy soil; Cascade range, Sierra Nevada, Southwestern Calif, Great Basin province, Desert Province to B.C.. Grows to about 18" high and 1' wide. A graceful and ornamental grass.
