Grindelia stricta platyphylla ssp. - Coastal Gum Plant

Description

This perennial makes a tough, quick-spreading grouncover that stays under a foot tall. Bright yellow flowers stand out against a carpet of deep green foliage in from May to October. In nature it is found on wind-swept bluffs and sand dunes- you can see it growing plentifully around Montara Beach and Grey Whale Cove. Grows just as well inland, though may not be able to tolerate the very hottest and dryest locales.
