Description

A deciduous tree growing to 30 meters. Native to moister places such as streamsides, marshes, seepage areas and meadows in the foothills of the Cascade Ranges and Sierra Nevadas to the inner North Coast Ranges, the Central Valley and Deserts. The bark of the mature tree is very dark and roughly fissured. Twigs are yellowish . Mature leaves are narrow, pointed and often sickle shape. Grows mostly below 2000 ft.
