Vitis californica 'Walker Ridge' - California Wild Grape

Description

This species is often seen along streams in Northern California. The maximum height and breadth of this selection is around 15 feet or less, as opposed to 40 feet for the species and other selections. This attribute makes it an ideal vine for a smaller area. It has nearly round pale green leaves which provide reliable if not spectacular fall color. The edible fruit is sweet but seedy, and is an excellent bird attractor for the wildlife gardener. Provide sun to light shade, and occasional to regular water after establishment.
