Description
A fuzzy little hedgenettle that has a widespread range throughout wetland areas of the West Coast. This one is especially abundant in the foothills of San Mateo County and even graces the coast with its presence. Fuzzy leaves, fuzzy stems, fuzzy bracts- everything on this plant is fuzzy! Hairs on this plant generally have a silky quality to them- not rough and not felty. Whorls of 3-6 little light pink to white flowers grace upright stems above abundant foliage which is medium to light green. This rhizomatous plant will spread to fill any area where moisture is available- she thrives in seeps and next to streams, but can tolerate dry shade as long as she gets a bit of water now and then. Part shade is best, but full sun is fine on the coast.
