Aster ascendens - Purple Aster

Description

This flowering perennial is related to the Chilean aster but with narrower leaves and a lower growing habit. Flowers are purple, borne on 1-2' stems. Native to grassy fields, salt marshes and dry banks, this aster prefers some summer water in the cultivated garden.
