Arctostaphylos pumila 'Wavelength' - Sand Mat Manzanita

Description

A dependably low-growing form of A. pumila, which is an endemic of Monterey County.  This selection will reach 2' high at most and can spread pretty far- potentially to 8' across, but it moves slowly so the risk of overwhelm is low.  It's foliage is particularly fine and dense, with silvery tomentose leaves forming a tidy mound.  Perfect for a slope or border plant.  Takes full to partial sun and may prefer less sun in very hot locales.  Could work around the drip line of an oak where it gets some sun.  Dave Fross selection.
