Description

A component of the chaparral of the inner Coast Ranges, this evergreen shrub grows 3 to 6 ft. tall. The leaves are densely covered with woolly hairs giving it a white appearance. The pink to rose colored flowers are a showy contrast with the light foliage in May to July. Plant in a hot, dry, well-drained location. No summer water after establishment. Pinch for compactness. Can spread with underground runners. It is a local native and is rare.
