Description

Native to well drained but damp banks and woods in the Sierra Nevada between four and ten thousand feet, the Alpine Strawberry makes an excellent for light to deep shade. Not as vigorous a spreader in the Bay Area as our two local species of Strawberry, it nonetheless does well given shade, good drainage, and some water. The leaves are a distinctive gray green, and the white flowers and red berries add a little seasonal interest. The texture of the foliage combines well with our native succulents.
