Description

This is a big beautiful grass for dry shade or sun on the coast. Its blades form a clump about 2' tall. From this mass, flowering stalks appear in spring reaching as much as 6'. Its striking form and adaptability to almost any soil type make it an excellent ground cover or specimen plant. The plant was found on a serpentine seepage slope in Marin County. California Fescue is native to our coast ranges, and is ideal for planting under oaks, where it requires only two or three irrigations each summer.
