Ceanothus thyrsiflorus - Wild Lilac

Description

This is a variegated selection, made by the UCBerkeley Botanic Garden, of the locally native Blue Blossom. The variegated leaf provides garden interest when the plant is not in flower. This large, tree-like shrub will grow to 15'high and wide. Its delicate light blue flowers appear April-May. Plant in light shade to protect from hottest sun. Drought tolerant but may like occasional water.
