Description
This is the only palm native to California. Its stout, unbranched trunk grows to 75 ft. The stiff fan-shaped leaves are up to 6' long and will form a dry 'skirt' around the trunk with age. At maturity (~25yrs) the palm produces inflorescences 8-10'long. The fruit is edible and favored by birds. In nature this palm is found only at desert oases with a permanent source of water. California Fan Palm prefers regular water and full to part sun.
