Description

This tree's common name is misleading as this is not a true Cedar. Slender drooping branches have a graceful appearance. Lower branches spread broadly and look magnificent on large lawns. Native to California's north coast, the tree also has an extensive range from Alaska inland to Montana. Trees may reach 200' in coastal areas but much less in gardens (60'-150'). Prefers cool, moist but not soggy soil. Inland plantings must be shaded to prevent leaf burn.
