Description

A hybrid of the black and purple sages that occurred naturally at UC Berkeley Botanic Gardens. Both are found on dry barren slopes of the Coast Ranges. It forms a spreading mound 6 feet tall and 8 feet wide. An excellent plant for quickly covering a dry sunny slope, it is good for erosion control, as well as providing nectar for bees and hummingbirds, and cover and seeds for other species. Drought tolerant when established. The springtime flowers are lavender blue.
