California's mightiest oak, it often reaches to 70 feet or more and is quite wide-spreading. A large, graceful, deciduous tree with a rounded crown and at maturity it has slender pendulous branchlets. Native to interior valleys, Sierra foothills and Coast Ranges away from direct coastal influence. In cultivation it is adaptable to various soils and conditions of moisture and drought.
