Description

The Sierra Plum is a stiff deciduous shrub or small tree. It usually grows on dry rocky slopes, often with chaparral. but can grow on moister slopes. The twigs are red and shiny. the older bark browner and smooth. The leaves are oval to roundish. Grows from Oregon, south, in both the central Calif. ranges and Sierra Nevada below 6000'. There are several varieties, all producing different colored drupes-from yellow to bright red to dark red, 1.5-2 cm long.
