Description

This evergreen shrub is closely related to Manzanita. It grows to 6' or more in time, and has an open airy form, interesting peeling bark, and narrow leathery leaves. Like Manzanitas, this plant has white urn-shaped flowers and red fruit which is attractive to birds. Cultural requirements are light irrigation, excellent drainage, and full sun. Birdbush grows in the chaparral plant community, from San Diego county south to Baja California.
