Description

This striking plant is native to stream banks and moist areas in the forests of the coast ranges from Santa Barbara to Humboldt County. It likes regular water and light shade. Can take some direct sun if the ground is shaded by another plant. Beautiful orange flowers with maroon spots are held on stems as tall as 6' high and bloom in June and July. Hummingbirds love them! It spreads slowly, forming large colonies in damp shady places. This plant goes dormant in late summer, and reappears larger the following year.
