Forestiera pubescens - Desert Olive

Description

This fast growing upright shrub reaches 10' high by 4' wide, and is both drought and heat resistant. Its bright green leaves and dense habit make it a good choice for a small screen in a hot spot. Give the Desert Olive occasional water to establish it and then let it be. This deciduous shrub is adaptable to many soil types, and grows in dry washes in Contra Costa County as well as much of the arid west.
