Description

A deciduous, multi-trunked shrub, with attractive winter form. It blooms in early spring with vivid magenta flowers, before its nearly circular leaves appear. Nice fall color. Plant in full to part sun. Western Redbud is cold hardy, resistant to oak root fungus, and needs little or no water once it is established. Needing warm summers to thrive, it is not a plant for the immediate coast. A native to dry slopes, from the coast ranges to the Sierra foothills.
