Description

Maritime ceanothus is a low, mounding, evergreen shrub, 1 to 2 ' in height and 3' in breadth. It is rare, found on coastal hills and bluffs under 500' elevation near the Hearst ranch in n. San Luis Obispo Co. The flowers range from a pale to deep purple-lavender. Give it full sun to part shade, protecting it from the afternoon sun in the Valley. Water once or twice a month after it is established. It is wonderful as a specimen draped over rocks.
