Description

As its name suggests this shrub forms a dense mound, 3' to 4' high, and 6' wide. The plant is covered with clusters of bright blue flowers in the spring. It is believed to be a hybrid between the creeping Blue Blossom, Ceanothus thyrsiflorus repens and C. dentatus. It originally appeared in the nursery of Louis Edmunds in the 1950's. Despite its obscure origins, it makes an attractive, neat shrub for a sunny spot near the coast, or light afternoon shade inland. It thrives with occasional water, but takes more frequent water with good drainage.
