Description
A gorgeous bright green sedge that matures at about 3' wide and 2' tall. In the past it has mistakenly been sold synonymously with the Berkeley Sedge- Carex divulsa, which is non-native. You can distinguish C. tumulicola from C. divulsa from the flowering seed head, which will be clustered at the end of the stalk with very little, if any, internode. It does well in either full sun or light shade with occasional water. Easy to grow, and a good companion for Blue-eyed Grass, and other small flowering perennials. Common to open moist places throughout the West, mainly growing in the Coast Ranges in California. Find it all over the Bay Area. An excellent erosion control plant.
