Artemisia palmeri - Palmer's Sagewort

Description

This perennial grows 2' - 3' tall, and holds its fragrant, grey foliage throughout the year. It bears small, inconspicuous flowers typical of the genus. A tough plant from coastal chaparral in San Diego County. Found in moist drainages in sandy soil. Palmer's Sage is considered rare because its habitat is being developed. Give it full sun and infrequent water. Many Artemisias are deer resistant, and this one would be well worth trying.
