Description

A rare manzanita from the Peninsular Range mountains near San Diego. An erect shrub to 8' tall and about as broad. Grey green leaves contrast nicely with the smooth, dark red bark. Flowers are white to pale pink. It is one of the earliest manzanitas to bloom begining its show in January or February. The Otay Manzanita requires well drained soil, and little or no water when established.
