Betula occidentalis - Water Birch

Description

This wide ranging small riparian tree is found at elevations from 2000-8000 ft. from the Rocky Mountains to British Columbia and in the coast ranges of California. It is many-trunked with a distinctive smooth, red-bronze color. Growing to only 25 feet it can be used in small scale landscapes. Be aware that it will need a moist soil to be happy.
