Arctostaphylos 'Austin Griffith' - 'Austin Griffith' Manzanita

A chance hybrid of A. manzanita 'Dr. Hurd' and A. densiflora 'Sentinel' that occurred at Native Sons Nursery- this specimen is stunning! 'Austin Griffith' shares the 'Dr. Hurd's upright habit and sculptural form, as well as faster than average growth (around a foot a year once established), but grows a bit denser and has a finer texture, staying about half the size- 8 feet tall. Flower clusters are a gorgeous, delicate blush pink and are ABUNDANT from November to January. Best in full sun with little or no water once established, though this selection has tolerated life here by the coast pretty well and has proven to be more resistant to fungal issues than many other Manzanitas.
