Description

This mountain tree is small and multitrunked, and is usually found growing in clumps. It reaches from 6' - 18' tall on moist slopes and canyons between 6,000 and 8,000 feet. In moist situations it will grow to 30' and the shiny 1" - 2" leaves may also become much larger. This maple must have well-drained soil and part sun. Its wide range includes the Sierra Nevada in Southern California, the Coast Range from Oregon to Alaska and east to the Rocky Mountains.
