Description

This herbaceous perennial is a member of the Valley and Foothill Woodland community of the Hamilton ranges and Mt. Diablo, and the hills of Napa and Sonoma counties. The name is from Greek, meaning rock hedge, refering to its habitat. It is found on shaded slopes, so it will be at home in a situation of dry, shade and good drainage. The inflorescence can be from 1/2 to almost 2'. It grows from a slender rhizome bearing bulblets.
