Heterotheca villosa - Golden Aster

Description

Low, mounding perennial, less than 1' tall, 2' wide. Has a neat, compact habit. Covered with bright yellow daisies in summer. Native to coastal foothills, with this particular selection being from San Bruno Mountain. Takes sun, or filtered sun, drought or occasional water. Should be sheared back after blooming, since spent flower heads can make the whole plant look brown. Deer resistant.
