Description
Low evergreen shrub, roughly 18" high, spreading to 6' wide. Lovely little lavender flowers appear in March, contrasting the small, deep green holly-like leaves. Leathery, spikey foliage makes this a wonderfully deer-resistant plant. Will take full or part sun and heat. Drought tolerant when established, likes occasional water. Good on slopes. Rare in the wild, it is endemic to Point Reyes/Inverness/Tomales Bay. One of three varieties of C. gloriosus, this one is distinguished by it's prostrate form and small, fine foliage.
