Description

This prostrate ceanothus roots at the nodes as it grows, forming dense mats from 3 to 8 ft. wide. It occurs in open flats and coniferous forest in the Sierra (and north into Washington) from 3000 to 6500 ft. Difficult to grow, it requires dry, well-drained soil. Try in sun to part shade. Its small lavender to violet-blue flower clusters appear April-June.
